Art Is Everywhere

Art doesn't always come in forms of painting, drawing or coloring. God also has quite an artistic side. Sometimes, His artistic side includes an experience that causes us to feel beauty as well as see it. Waking up on a brisk, winter day, where your world has become a winter wonderland, with ice swallowing every twig or blade of grass. The sun shining greatly to crystalize the world into an undescribable experience of beauty and art intimate to God's creation. God gives us these scenic experiences to remind us that He is the creator of all things good, beautiful and artistic.

A Picture Paints People, Perspective, and Power

You will only ever know what it is like to see life through your own eyes. As artist may try to express how they see a certain picture or feel a certain way intimate to their perspective, you will never truely be able to grapple their full intentions of the piece of artwork. Our experiences in life have shaped us uniquely and intimate to see life in a way that no other has. This is the beauty of life and art. Through art, we are able to express just a piece of experience or emotion that can only let you feel a glimpse of what is really behind the surface.

A Stress Reliever?

I have to admit...I truely miss my highschool art classes. For four years I took art classes. Art has always been incorporated in my life, and now that I am in college I do not find it a big part of my life, and I truely miss it. Now as in my classes I have learned that I can't paint a picture with words, metaphors, similies and such...but I miss the color the textures and various mediums I used. I miss getting my hands dirty and experimenting with colors and different mediums. Do you incorporate art in your life? If so, how? What is your favorite type of art?

Have you ever seen those artist on the sidewalk in the cities using spray paint to create pictures? A couple weeks ago in Philly, at the end of south street, there was a man using simple shapes and cans of spray paint to create the most beautiful city scenes. I encourage you, if you ever come about one...please stop and look at how simple he makes it look. Art doesn't mean just using paints and oil pastels. Art can be anything, as long as it expresses you!

Winter Wonderland

So art doesn't always come in pictures, paintings, and drawings. The snow storm that hit the coast this past week proved to be just as beautiful as hand-crafted artwork. There is nothing like waking up to a winter wonderland. The crisp clean blanket of snow is pure and free of soot that the work day brings so early in the morning. More often then not, we wake up and don't appreciate the simple things in life that are truely beautiful and corrupted by this ever so fast-paced world. Appreciate the simple things.... Click here to see some amazing pictures of the simple things!

Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil

This piece was created by Logan McGee, a senior at Milton Hershey School. Remember in previous posts, you were challenged to look at the colors used in the specific artwork and to examine what mood they portray. Again, it his piece Logan not only uses colors to lead the viewer to a mood, but he uses words to portray a theme. Although the words can tunnel the viewer to an obvious theme, think again about what each color is a symbol for in society? Why would Logan use black white and red to portray his theme and not blue yellow and purple? Check out this video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-4NUis5Ntk

This piece is done by Marco Valles-rivera, a student at Milton Hershey School. Marco uses graffiti to really portray the typical atmosphere of a subway station. The colors really capture how gloomy a subway station can be, as well as the various expressions of art you would find in this type of environment.
