Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil

This piece was created by Logan McGee, a senior at Milton Hershey School. Remember in previous posts, you were challenged to look at the colors used in the specific artwork and to examine what mood they portray. Again, it his piece Logan not only uses colors to lead the viewer to a mood, but he uses words to portray a theme. Although the words can tunnel the viewer to an obvious theme, think again about what each color is a symbol for in society? This piece is done by Marco Valles-rivera, a student at Milton Hershey School. Marco uses graffiti to really portray the typical atmosphere of a subway station. The colors really capture how gloomy a subway station can be, as well as the various expressions of art you would find in this type of environment.

This beautiful watercolor piece was created by a coworker of mine, Genevieve Newberry! Artist use certain brush strokes, and mediums to portray a mood or expression. What kind of emotion is the artist trying to evoke by using the watercolor? Consider the colors she used, and the simple fine lines the face is detailed with...what emotion would you best match with her choice of color and brush stroke?

This piece of work I personally did. This is called the "Blonde", it was drawn and blended with Chalk Pastel. The colors portray a sensitive, and naive mood, that she is also displaying in her clueless face. How do you feel the colors portray her mood? Is it just a swirl of neon pinks and blues or does it evoke an emotion in you?
